Bitter second round at Wimbledon for our tennis because one of the two great protagonists of the tournament will have to exit immediately: the world number one favorite against the 2021 finalist
A derby that we never wanted to see in the second round of Wimbledon: Sinner, the world number one, against Berrettini, finalist in 2021 against Djokovic. A clash that will send an Italian home too early: for Jannik it is the fourteenth match against an Italian and for now he has won 13 out of 13. But the South Tyrolean will have to be very careful because no one in the last four years has been stronger than the Roman on grass: as many as 29 successes against 5 knockouts, two titles at Queen’s and one in Stuttgart where a few days ago he lost the final against Draper. Sinner immediately lost a set to Hanfmann, ranked 110, in his debut match, not yet playing at his best. Three hours in total in which he alternated excellent shots with moments of decline that allowed the German to win the third set. Berrettini, on the other hand, against the fearsome Fucsovics closed with a dry set betting: 3-0, despite a back pain that kept his corner in suspense. There is only one precedent between the two at ATP level, last season in Toronto: Sinner won 6-4 6-3. This Wimbledon match will be a completely different one, over the distance of three sets out of five: Jannik is the favorite and placed at odds around 1.15. His success again by 3-1 in set betting is worth 3.40 on Better and Goldbet, 3.38 on Gazzabet, 3.35 on Betway.

In a few months, Berrettini has reached the number 59 position in the ranking after having dropped below the first hundred: in Stuttgart he lost in the final, again on grass, while Sinner consolidated his throne by winning in Halle but here at Wimbledon he will have to defend the semi-final of last season, when he lost against Djokovic, then beaten by Alcaraz in the challenge for the title. The bookmakers of the main betting sites do not believe too much in Matteo’s win against his friend Jannik, so much so that his odds are on the board at 5.20 on Better and Goldbet, at 5.03 on Betway and at 5.00 on Gazzabet.
