Here is Imbrò, with Vuelle for two years

“I am very happy to wear the Vuelle jersey for the next two seasons, Pesaro is a place with a great passion for basketball. So far I have played there as an opponent and I remember very well the great warmth of the fans, who are present in thousands at the Vitrifrigo Arena. Without a doubt, the presence of coach Pino Sacripanti was also very important, he wanted me at all costs: I will try to help Pesaro get back where it deserves to be”.

With these words Matteo Imbrò, Sicilian soul (he is a native of Agrigento), greets his arrival on the Adriatic coast. They expected him to be in Rimini, but he stopped 35 km further south. Experienced – he turned thirty last February – and reliable in the control room, he has always stood out for his personality and determination. Carpegna Prosciutto has secured him with a two-year agreement. He arrives in Pesaro fresh from the promotion to Serie A just won in Trapani after the one achieved in the past with Treviso. A tall playmaker (1.92) and a key player in decisive moments, gifted with an excellent shot from outside, he knows how to manage the team well with the right rhythms. Thanks to these characteristics, he can also support a playmaker in the role of guard. And he will do so often, in an exchange with the recently signed American, Khalil Ahmad.

Imbrò’s career began in the Trapani youth teams, but after just one year, in 2009, Virtus Siena picked him up: he played the Regions Trophy with Tuscany, resulting in him being the best player in the youth tournament. In 2010, he took part in the Jordan Brand Classic Camp in New York with the best European prospects. He then landed at Fortitudo, but soon changed sides, moving to Virtus Bologna with whom he played all the matches of the Serie A championship in 2012/2013. He remained with the V nere until 2015 when he moved to Ferentino, in Serie A2, and then to Treviso. He wore the Venetian jersey from 2017 to 2022, winning the A2 Italian Cup and promotion to the top championship in 2018/2019. After a brief stint in Verona, in 2022 during the season he signed with Scafati, again in Serie A, then concluded the year playing the A2 playoffs with the jersey of his city, Agrigento. Last season he was one of the great protagonists of Trapani’s promotion to the top division, traveling with an average of 24.5 minutes, 9.7 points and 3.5 assists. In the decisive game – at PalaDozza, against Fortitudo – he scored a three-pointer from nine meters that ensured Trapani a historic return to Serie A after 32 years. Wearing the blue jersey, he won the gold medal at the 2013 Under 20 European Championships in Tallinn (Estonia) trained by coach Sacripanti and with the new red and white Eric Lombardi as his teammate, with whom he will meet again to defend the colors of Pesaro.
