“Some loves never end” sang Antonello Venditti, just like the one between Avimecc Volley Modica and the Italian-Argentine spiker Javier Martinez, who after two years since his last time in white and blue returns to defend the colors of the club of president Ezio Aprile.

In the last few hours, in fact, the market men of the Contea sextet have reached an agreement with the powerful “bomber” who in the next season of the A3 series will be one of the firepower of coach Enzo Distefano’s chessboard.

“We are happy to have Javier Martinez back in Modica – says president Ezio Aprile – because he is a boy who in the two seasons that he defended our colors has shown tenacity, commitment, seriousness and a great desire to work. Javier is an athlete who never holds back and – concludes Aprile – we all believe that he can increase the level of experience of our team”.

Born in 1995, Javier Martinez was born in Cordoba, is 190 centimeters tall and took the first steps of his volleyball career in the youth teams of Lube Banca Macerata. From 2012 to 2017 he then played with Volley 79 Civitavecchia between series B2 and series C. He then moved to Foligno, where until 2019 he played in series B with Inter Volley. In 2019 his first experience in series A3 with the shirt of Biscottificio Marini Delta Po Porto Viro, from where in 2020 he arrived in Modica playing two seasons at a high level always in series A3 with the white and blue shirt.

In October 2022 he moved to Serie A1 at Top Volley Cisterna and then returned to Serie A3 last season defending the colors of Moyashi Garlasco.

Now the return to Modica with the aim of improving the results of the two seasons lived in the shadow of the Castello dei Conti.

“Returning to Modica – explains Javier Martinez – in an environment where I felt at home in the previous two seasons was the main reason. I know the environment well and finding teammates who push you every day to do better in the gym will be important for me and for all of us athletes. My personal goal – he continues – is to improve on the result obtained in my last year in Modica, because I am convinced that we deserved more than the quarter-final lost against Catania, for this reason I am very eager for revenge. I am convinced that, as in previous years, the A3 series championship will be very competitive, but we will do our best to be among the leading teams”.
