Last night Trentino Energie had the worst of it against an experienced team like Cabiate. They struggled terribly to keep up with their opponents and lost the first two halves (at 19 and 17). In the third they held out until 12-12, then defeat was inevitable.

Most of all, the lack of stability in the reception weighed heavily, causing Matilde Zara to run around and greatly limiting the range of action of the central defenders, who were very marked on the few occasions in which they could have been served, but the level of the teams is high and the girls will have to get used to it.

Good performance in attack in the Trentino ranks Chiara Groff and di Costalunga served and received, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the guests.

The news
The Trentino Energie starts the match with Matilde Zara as director, Matilda Del Dot as opposite, Chiara Groff and Monika Costalunga as spikers, Serena Sfreddo and Amelie Pixner as central defenders, Sofia Battistoni as libero.

Cabiate relies on the hands of Martina Casarotti, in the last two seasons in A2, and at the opposite end Sara Gotti, while Martina Bordignon and Erika Ghezzi act in the band; the central players are Stefania Colombo and Fiorella Bizzotto, with Alessia Della Canonica ready to replace them on the second line.

The troubles for the thirty-year-olds begin immediately after the kick-off. Erika Ghezzi’s serve allows the Como team to immediately take the lead to 0-4. Just wait three rotations and with Colombo’s serves Cabiate already puts his signature on the set.

At 5-11 a more balanced match begins, but Trentino Energie are unable to prevail on any occasion.

Even in the second set the Lombard team coached by Gilles Reali started off on the right foot, then at 3-6 Argentario managed to stabilize the ball exchange for a few actions, only to then suffer an ace from Gotti and a fast from Colombo, which also make this set unplayable (8-13).

The novelty of the third set lies in the fact that, up to the halfway point, the challenge is balanced. The 3-2 marks the first advantage of the evening for Trentino Energie, who cling above all to the serve, the fundamental thing that they do best.

After defending until 12-12, a series of key passes lead to defeat in this quarter too. The Como team also make some mistakes, but it’s only worth a few ball changes.

Mario Martinez’s girls will challenge Volano next Saturday.
