The first day of Roland Garros has yet to end and has provided great emotions and sensational surprises. The Rome finalist Nicolas Jarry made a surprise exit for example against the home idol Moutet while the Polish Hubert Hurkacz saved himself by winning in five sets and coming back in the final.

Positive debut for the super favorite Carlos Alcaraz who leaves only four games to the American Wolf, certainly not a landlubber. The races still have to end and in recent minutes a significant controversy has exploded at Roland Garros.

During the match played on court 12 between the French tennis player Atmane and the Austrian Ofner a rather serious episode occurred. In the fourth set, at 2-1 for the Frenchman, Atmane, in a fit of anger and with the game stopped, threw the ball into the stands with his racket and hit a lady in the audience.

For several minutes the game remained at a standstill with Ofner calling for the tennis player to be disqualified and the chair umpire remaining to speak to the supervisor. In the end, after a long wait and a great controversy, the parties decided to continue the match, to general amazement and Ofner’s great annoyance.

A few years ago, as you all remember, Novak Djokovic was disqualified in the round of 16 of the US Open due to a rather similar episode, with the chair umpire not hesitating in kicking out the world number one and disqualifying him to general dismay.

This time it didn’t go that way and this choice is causing a lot of discussion. On social media several fans and professionals are commenting on the story and the main insinuation concerns the fact that Atmane is French and everyone has opted for a ‘homemade’ decision

Nobody appreciated it and there are hours of controversy on social media against Roland Garros. Here is one of the tweets about it and the controversy continues:
