FLORENCE – Fabio Paratici, the new director of the Viola technical area, will arrive in Florence the day after Fiorentina-Cremonese, i.e. on 5 January 2026. In time to decide Paolo Vanoli’s future, if Fiorentina doesn’t beat Nicola’s team. The hope, of course, is that the Viola regain the three points. The coach will still have to show courage.
The negotiation that will lead Paratici to join Fiorentina is already defined: a four and a half year contract, while some details are missing for the resolution of the link between Tottenham and the manager, where he holds the role of sporting director. The eve of the Epiphany, as mentioned, is the expected date. The hope is that he can bring a “sock” with reinforcements. There is insistent talk about defender Radu Dragusin, now not indispensable at Tottenham and Jeremie Boga, currently playing for Nice, who could enter into negotiations for the transfer of Amir Richardson to the French club. The incoming priorities seem to be, at least for the moment, a defender, a midfielder and two attacking wingers.
And the coach? The relations between Paratici and Vanoli are good: indeed, there would be mutual respect, but the coach will have his future in Viola linked to the match against Cremonese. Nicola’s team, beaten today at home by Napoli (0-2) is not an invincible battleship, but so far it has shown that it can handle any comparison well. Fiorentina will have to bring out their best to beat them. And, above all, he must not make mistakes: for example the “sleeping” of Dodò and his teammates on Sorensen’s goal in Parma.
The team’s weekly program includes only one work session per day until Saturday 3 January, therefore no retreats. The conditions of the injured Fazzini and Pablo Mari need to be assessed and what will happen to Richardson, officially excluded from the Parma trip for technical reasons, but who had given an unauthorized interview to the newspaper “L’Equipe” during the week in which he declared that he wanted to leave Florence in January. Lamptey is still out, while Luca Ranieri, who was absent in Parma due to suspension, will return to the squad against Cremonese.
