“I want to reach a thousand goals before I quit, and I will succeed, Inshallah..”. Cristiano Ronaldo in the emir version receives yet another award in Dubai, as the best player in the Middle East. And it never ceases to be talked about for its hyperbolic numbers. Not just the goal he set himself, at 42, before hanging up his boots.
In fact, it did not escape the Portuguese’s many followers that on his wrist, during the awards ceremony of the Globe Soccer Awards, CR7 showed off yet another piece from his luxury watch collection: a 700,000 euro Patek Philipp. The images are already viral on social media, and only surprise those who do not know the details of the Portuguese’s golden Saudi career. With the Al Nassr shirt, with which he scored 13 goals in 14 appearances this season bringing his career tally to 972, CR7 in fact earns 600 thousand euros a day: in practice, the new chronograph model cost just one day of training, or so. The Nautilus Chronograph Ref. 5980/1400G – say the experts – is a piece of Swiss fine watchmaking, valued at 705 thousand euros, to be precise. Made to order, the model on the Portuguese’s wrist is in 18k white gold, with a diamond-studded bezel and strap.
But it is not even the prized piece of a collection (reconstructed by followers thanks to public appearances at the awards) which includes numerous pieces: the most prized, according to the Spanish Marca, a Girard-Perregaux worth just over one and a half million euros. So many good reasons not to quit. “It’s difficult to continue playing, but I’m motivated – the 42-year-old former United, Real and Juve striker said from the award stage – My passion is great and I want to continue, it doesn’t matter if I play in Europe or the Middle East”. “I have always liked playing football and I want to continue – concluded Cristiano Ronaldo – you know what my goal is, I want to win trophies and I want to reach that number that you all know”. A thousand goals: “I will definitely get there, if there are no injuries.”
