Just over a month after the lighting of the Olympic brazier of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Games, the sky of Livigno was colored with the green, white and red of the Italian flag, officially entering the history of Alpine skiing. For the first time, in fact, the Valtellina town hosted a stage of the FIS World Cup: the men’s Super-G on the Tagliede-Li Zeta slope.
Also on this occasion, medical aid on the track was entrusted to AREU – Regional Emergency Emergency Agency of Lombardy, involved during the official tests on Friday and on race day with an operational structure designed as a real pre-Olympic test.
Along the 1,800 meters of the route, AREU has deployed eight rescue teams, each made up of a doctor or nurse, a rescuer from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS) and one from the SAGF unit of the Guardia di Finanza or the State Police.
The health coordination of the activity has been entrusted to a team made up of a doctor, nurse and technician, who will also be responsible for the Bormio Venue during the Games. Downstream from the track, to support the public present in the center of the town, AREU has also deployed an ambulance and a nursing car, guaranteeing timely healthcare even outside the race track.
The staff employed came from the 118 Territorial Articulations (AAT) of the entire region, with the support of the technical component of the AREU maxiemergencies structure, confirming an organizational model based on the integration of regional resources. On board the EC-135 helicopter, made available for any interventions on skiers, were the directors of the AAT of Milan, Riccardo Stucchi, and of Sondrio, Serena Ruberti.
“We are very satisfied with these two days of Super-G – comments Serena Ruberti – which represent the last real official test before the Olympics. The collaboration with CNSAS, Guardia di Finanza and State Police was excellent and allowed us to test in the field the structure that we will deploy in the various Olympic Venues”.
