“The New Year’s Eve evening in Piazza Politeama gave the city the best image of Palermo: a full, lively, festive square, but at the same time orderly and lived in total safety. Thousands of people enthusiastically participated in the concert and in the initiatives organised, demonstrating that it is possible to share moments of great collective participation while respecting the rules and others. It is an important signal of how our community should be lived every day: with civic sense, responsibility and the desire to be together”, says Mayor Roberto Lagalla.
Lagalla aims for an encore: “Important works will be completed in 2026, zero risk is impossible on safety”
“A result of this level is the result of great teamwork and for this reason – continues the mayor – I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the event. Starting from the provincial committee for public order and safety in the prefecture, to the police forces, to the municipal police, who guaranteed control and supervision, up to the organizers of the show and the municipal department of culture, who took care of every aspect of the event with professionalism”.
The mayor adds: “My thanks also go to all the entities that have worked with great commitment to serve the citizens: the civil protection, the voluntary associations, the 118 health personnel and all the operators involved, who with competence and a spirit of service have contributed to making the city experience a peaceful and safe night of celebration”.
Finally Lagalla addresses all the people of Palermo: “I renew my wish for a new year marked by serenity, trust and participation. May 2026 be a year of growth, cohesion and opportunities for our city, to be built together, day after day”.
