The Campobasso Flying Squad’s investigations into the case of the 15-year-old and her mother who died at the Cardarelli hospital in the Molise capital due to alleged intoxication are “expanding to 360 degrees”. We learn this from investigative sources. The investigators are focusing on the analysis of the victims’ blood, especially that of the mother, taken in the intensive care unit where she was hospitalized. An autopsy is underway on the two victims: the examination will help establish the cause of death with sufficient certainty.
Five doctors under investigation
For the two deaths, 5 doctors are under investigation: they are a Venezuelan doctor resident in Campobasso, a doctor born in Naples but resident in Campobasso and finally two doctors from Benevento resident in Campobasso.
Hypotheses about death
For investigators, contamination of the flour with possible rat poisons must be excluded among the hypotheses that caused the death of the 15-year-old and her mother. The investigations carried out in the family mill did not in fact highlight signs of contamination with toxic substances, but only the presence of traditional baits for planned prevention plans. The main suspects therefore remain the foods with which the table was prepared during the holidays, in particular fish and mushrooms. The food was seized from the family’s home and is under examination: it consists of clams, mussels, cuttlefish, cod and mushrooms, even though these were packaged and certified.
