Misano (Rimini), 17 April 2023 – Is dead as Marco Simoncelli. Hit by a motorbike coming from behind, after he had been knocked down for a while accident happened a few moments ago. The drama took place yesterday, just before 2 pm, on the track misano. The victim is Fabrizio Giraudoa 46-year-old building contractor who lived in ditch (in the province of Wedge) with his wife and two children aged just 8 and 6 years.
Giraudo he had motorbikes and a passion for speed in the blood. Six years ago she decided to start competing in the amateur leagues. And so he had done yesterday too, participating in the Italian Amateur Trophy RR Cup (class 1000) to Italy speed cup, which was raced on the Misano circuit, named after Simoncelli. His race started around 13.50.
The drama unfolded at the end of the first lap, in a straight line. According to the first reconstruction of the accident, one of the riders in the race stopped at the edge of the track due to engine trouble, a second motorbike arriving hit the vehicle, moving it to the center of the roadway, where the motorbike ridden by Giraudo was arriving. The rider from Cuneo fell on impact and was hit by another motorbike. The help of the doctors on duty at the circuit was immediate, but unfortunately for Giraudo it wasn’t there nothing to do.
Two other riders involved in the accident were taken to the Bufalini hospital in Cesena, but luckily neither of them is in danger of life.
The pm David Ercolani ordered the seizure of all the vehicles and the autopsy on the pilot’s body, to try to establish the exact dynamics of the accident.
After the tragedy there Italian motorcycle federation and the circuit management have decided to cancel all the day’s races. Soon after came the condolences of John Copioli, president of the Federazine: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of an enthusiast and practitioner. We join the pain of his family and loved ones, to whom we offer our deepest condolences”. He was also on the track yesterday Giraudo’s 8-year-old son. The Piedmontese driver often took it with him to the races. After the accident, the Federation took care of the little one, making him return home with an escort.
Heartbroken from pain the Giraud family, known in Fossano, where it has a farm. One of the brothers, Bruno, says: “Fabrizio has loved motorbikes since he was a boy, and a few years ago he started racing on tracks in the amateur championships. I went to see him in the race a couple of times, then I stopped: too scared. Fabrizio knew the risks he ran, but that never stopped him. Now he will watch over his wife and her children from heaven.”
