Chaos in the morning for those who use public transport and in particular the Rome metro line A. Due to the lack of electricity, the metro A is in fact interrupted between Battistini and Termini. Atac informs that “the Manzoni, Ponte Lungo and Re di Roma stations are also temporarily closed”. However, the service between Anagnina and Termini appears to be regular.
The company explains that the service began with “the replacement of the line with buses in the section between Termini and Battistini and with the Manzoni, Ponte Lungo and Re di Roma stations temporarily closed due to lack of power”. The problem is “the lack of electricity due to a fault in the medium voltage distribution systems external to Atac”. According to what RomaToday has learned, in particular, the problem would have originated from a fault in an electrical cabin outside the metro stations.
Chaos at Termini where passengers are rushing to get on replacement transport. In the video we are publishing below, you can see people “transhumance” from Termini towards Repubblica to find a replacement shuttle. On social media, users are reporting that, due to the breakdown, the Termini section of the A metro is completely dark, with the escalators stopped and without any lighting.
