Murder of Mario Bozzoli, Giacomo Bozzoli on the run after life sentence confirmed: who is he?

There has been no news since yesterday of Giacomo Bozzoli, after the Supreme Court ruling that confirmed the life sentence for the 39-year-old from Brescia believed to be the murderer of his uncle Mario, the entrepreneur from Marcheno, in the Brescia area, who vanished into thin air on 8 October 2015. Bozzoli was not in his home on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda, where he is listed as a resident, and no one currently knows where he is. This was confirmed by the Carabinieri who showed up at the home, but they did not find him. According to the judges, Mario Bozzoli was thrown into the furnace of the Marcheno foundry on the evening of 8 October 2015, as supported by the Brescia Court of Assizes, confirmed by the Court of Assizes of Appeal and now by the Supreme Court of Cassation.

Giacomo Bozzoli has always said he was innocent: “No argument”

Giacomo Bozzoli, who will be forty on July 20, worked in the family foundry in Macheno, in Val Trompia. According to the judges’ reconstruction, he threw his uncle into the company’s largest furnace which, at 7:20 pm on October 8, 2015, went into lockdown after an anomalous white smoke. It is certain that Mario Bozzoli, the victim, never left the company that evening. The motive for the crime could be traced back to some bitterness between uncle and nephew regarding the management of the company. The defendant, accused of aggravated voluntary homicide and destruction of a corpse, has always professed his innocence. At the opening of the trial before the Assize Court of Brescia, in December 2021, Bozzoli had made some spontaneous statements: “Before starting I want to say that I will tell the whole truth because I am innocent”, were his words. “I’ll tell the whole truth. Everyone says that my uncle and I didn’t have a good relationship, but who knows how come no one saw us arguing.” No precautionary measure was ever issued against him, because since it was a circumstantial trial there was no risk of tampering with the evidence nor had the judges seen the risk of him fleeing.
