Four million euros in cash, in a bunker Agnan. Here is the most evident outcome of the investigation which culminated in the arrest of Patrick Bosti. Watches and valuables worth around one million euros were also found.
Twelve people under investigation who were involved in reinvesting the proceeds in apparently clean activities. There is a group of unsuspected people who laundered money and proceeds from racketeering and drugs. The investigators explain: despite the harsh prison sentences, the top management of the Secondigliano Alliance keep sending orders.
He is the prosecutor Nicholas Gratteri to remember the importance of breaking the relationship between the bourgeoisie and the Camorra. “We started from a series of telephone interceptions – the investigators explain – one of the arrested subjects inadvertently made reference to some goods, as if he was guarding some sort of treasure. We understood it from an expression that set the search in motion”.
In short, the investigators have captured and perceived that there was a reference to a wealth accumulation thanks to advanced money laundering schemes. More specifically, “the clan used companies that operated only on paper and that were specialized in electronics, precious metals trading, but also other goods.”
The maxi seizure
But let’s get back to the assets. We are talking about a seizure of 4 million euros and 48 luxury watches and a 10-carat diamond, all at the home of a person who called himself “a goose that laid golden eggs” and who was able to “knead” other people into the organization. The person in question is Luke Espositoson-in-law of Patrizio Bosti, nailed to a cell two days ago.
The Carabinieri Colonel explains Andrea Leo: «Inside the apartment a blacksmith had built a bunker. We located it in a bathroom, in a room, on the floor below. There was a cavity, we broke the walls and used a small opening to enter this treasure room. We saw bundles of money in a double layer of vacuum and various watch boxes and in counting these bundles an excessive amount of money emerges».
The words of the prosecutor Gratteri
During the press conference at the Prosecutor’s Office, Nicholas Gratteri confirms his doubts about harsh prison and the relationship between parts of the bourgeoisie and the Camorra. In short, the prosecutor of Naples recalls that the bosses continue to impose orders despite the 41 bis regime: “We should go back and understand who is responsible, who authorized a series of concessions that make – in fact – harsh prison like a loose-mesh system where those who have been detained for years continue to dictate orders to the outside.”
There is no lack of a lunge against parts of the bourgeoisie. Prosecutor Gratteri explains: “There is no Camorra without consensus; mafia power feeds on consensus; when I arrived here in Naples I did not imagine finding this level of evolution of the entrepreneurial Camorra”.
