Eminem Announces New Album ‘The Death of Slim Shady’

Real name Marshall Mathers, Eminem has continued to influence entire generations of rappers for over twenty-five years. From the provocations of his early days, to the autobiographical film “8 Mile” (2002) which earned him an Oscar for best original song “Lose Yourself”, Eminem has had an unprecedented career becoming what many consider the best MC ever. Able to reflect on his own and the American psyche in his music, with lucidity and ruthless irony, the rapper grew up in a working-class family in Detroit where he learned the ropes with various “rap battles” and “competitions”. It was in that context that he was noticed by the then CEO of Interscope Records, Jimmy Iovine, and by producer Dr. Dre, with whom a very long collaboration was born. His first albums were unprecedented successes: “The Slim Shady LP” (1999) and “The Marshall Mathers LP” (2000) made him one of the biggest stars in world music ever. Politics and society are the themes he loves to explore the most, but his music is not only a social denunciation that digs deep into the heart of America, but it is also a scream of relief, a form of satire and rebellion. The albums “The Eminem Show” (2002), “Encore” (2004), “Relapse” (2009), “Recovery” (2010) followed, with the unforgettable hit “Love the Way You Lie” in collaboration with Rihanna, “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” (2013), “Revival” (2017), “Kamikaze” (2018) and “Music To Be Murdered By” (2020). His list of hits is endless: “The Real Slim Shady”, “Like Toy Soldiers”, “Stan” with Dido, “Without Me”, “Not Afraid”, “The Monster” with Rihanna and many others. The American magazine Rolling Stone included him “among the 100 greatest musical artists of all time” and “among the 100 greatest authors of all time”.
