2025 ends for Italian cinema in the name of substantial market stability, which confirms the adjustment process started after the pandemic crisis. Cinetel data outline a picture of economic stability: takings are close to 500 million euros, while attendance stands at just under 70 million, in line with the previous two years, despite a lesser boost from the international product.
The comparison with 2024 highlights a slight increase in overall turnover, accompanied however by a moderate decline in tickets sold, a sign of a market that is holding up economically despite slightly reduced demand. Both the summer months and above all the Christmas period were decisive in this balance, which recorded the best December in terms of takings since the beginning of the surveys, confirming the strategic role of the holidays for the cinema industry (and the fact that when Zalone arrives, there is none for anyone).
However, the most significant figure of the year concerns nationally produced cinema, which emerges as an authentic driver of the box office. Italian works and co-productions reach a market share of around a third of overall attendance, with marked growth compared to the previous year and values that are clearly higher than the pre-pandemic average. This is a significant advance both in terms of box office receipts and spectators, which signals a renewed centrality of the domestic product.
Returning to the films in theaters, Good Way continues its triumphal march awaiting today’s predictable boom, with another 1.6 million and rising to 36. Avatar – Fire and Ash collects 397 thousand euros and rises to 17.3 million, Nuremberg obtains 175 thousand euros and rises to 4.2 million, Zootropolis 2 gets 147 thousand euros and rises to 16.6. Primavera collects 88 thousand euros and rises to 803 thousand, Spongebob – A Pirate Adventure in previews it grosses almost 58 thousand euros, Father Mother Sister Brother obtains another 46 thousand euros and rises to 945 thousand, Grace collects 35 thousand euros and rises to 278 thousand, A Mickey Mouse under the tree collects another 27 thousand euros and rises to 1 million-odd, the preview of closes the top ten One of the family with 17 thousand euros.

The American year ends with mixed results, awaiting a 2026 which on paper should be spectacular, at least on the revenue side. The final top ten is obviously still partial, given that it is Avatar – Fire and Ash That Zootropolis 2 they still have a long way to go. To date, the highest grossing has been, rather surprisingly, A Minecraft Movie with 423.9 million dollars, just 200 thousand dollars more than Lilo & Stitch. Complete the podium Superman with 354.1 million. Next we find Jurassic World – Rebirthwith 339.6 million, Wicked – Parte 2 con 333, Zootropolis 2 with 321.2 (should close close to 400 million), The Sinnerswith 279.6 million, Fantastic Four – The Beginning con 274,2, Dragon Trainer with 262.9 million and only tenth Avatar – Fire and Ash with 227.9 million, also certain to exceed at least 400 million by the end of the race. The box office total is 8.5 billion, while the challenge between the majors sees Warner win and place two more films in the top ten, Disney with four and Universal with three. Paramount and Sony absent from the final top ten.
