The exhibition itinerary was designed to be divided into 9 locations – Town Hall Zelantea Hall, Church of San Benedetto, Church of San Rocco, Bellini Theater, Church of the “agonizing” San Crispino, Church of Santa Maria Odigitria, Diocesan Museum, Zelantea Academy, Cathedral of Ss.ma Maria Annunziata – where the concept of EGO and all the endings referring to it are analyzed through the works of Giuseppe Patanè.
The extensive anthology retraces the salient moments of Giuseppe Patanè’s artistic research, but above all the stages of that social and ethical commitment which is now an indispensable and indispensable element of the very definition of “contemporary art”. The exhibition presents works extrapolated from different cycles – The force of nature, Wounds, Shipwrecks, Show must not go on, Senzatutto (Snow), Ego, Omens, Dialogues, Know thyself – and takes the form of a combination of real cameos that form a sort of wunderkammer in which Naturalia and Mirabilia alternate according to a pressing narrative rhythm.
Patanè’s art stands out for its strong social and ethical commitment, dealing with issues of mutual respect and environmental sustainability. His works, inspired by Sicilian traditions and Mediterranean culture, embrace an ethical and aesthetic vision of reality.
Carlo Micheli, curator of the exhibition, underlines the importance of a constant rereading of Patanè’s work to highlight its artistic coherence, despite stylistic diversity. The works on display, which range from paintings, sculptures, installations and jewellery, are made entirely by hand, without tools, reflecting an emotional and rational creative process.
Patanè transforms negative feelings into concrete artistic expressions, balancing form and content, and breaking down the barriers between different artistic genres, emphasizing the interconnection between painting, sculpture, photography and ready made.
