“The night of San Giovanni 2024″ is upon us. An initiative by the Municipality of Parma to promote the tortellate scheduled for Sunday 23 June, on the occasion of the traditional anniversary, strongly rooted in the culture of the city.

San Giovanni al San Paolo
8pm, Cloister of the Open Laboratory Fountain.

Tortellata in the Cloister of the Open Laboratory with a tasty menu curated by Officina Gastronomica: herb cake with parmesan cream, tortelli as per tradition with butter and Parmigiano Reggiano, tuna with potato pie, red fruit cheese cake. Vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free alternative on request; music by Max Frisella. The profits will be donated to charity at Emporio Alimentare di Parma. A unique table along Via Tiepolo at the corner of Via Portilia for a dinner in company, full of taste and fun. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the I Girasoli Cooperative and part will be invested in the redevelopment of the neighborhood.
The event that marks the return of the Via Toscana Svegliati Committee, to consolidate the social and cultural aggregation activity of the inhabitants of the neighborhood.

The Parma gastronomic tradition calls for some specific preparations for the feast of San Giovanni. During the event, many aspects and nuances will be told: from anthropology to gastronomy, passing through the dialect and the history of excellent products, how and why tortelli d’erbetta and nocino were born, and their indissoluble link with the rituals of the lustral water of the summer solstice.

Presentation of “Il Piatto Ducale for tortelli d’erbetta”, a dish designed by Andrea Pacciani and handmade by Ceramiche del Ferlaro for USHAK Atelier di Meraviglie (www.ushak.it) which takes the shape of the crossed shield.
Divided into compartments, it allows you to fill the spaces with tortelli, melted butter and cheese, separately, so as to be able to carry out the dialectal form of tasting tortelli: drowning them in butter and then drying them in parmesan.
