On Friday 21 June at 10.00 the Still Life Room of the “Amedeo Lia” Civic Museum will host the conference “La Spezia for Giancarlo Marmori”, during which, at 11 am, the unveiling of a plaque will take place at the Special Library of History of Art and Archeology (on the ground floor of the Palazzina delle Arti in Via Prione 238) which, as decided by the Peracchini council on the proposal of the councilor to Toponymy Maria Grazia Frijia, was named after the well-known and refined writer and art critic. The conference, organized by prof. Antonio Zollino of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan will focus on historical-artistic and cultural insights on the figure of Marmori.
“We pay homage to an illustrious son of our city by dedicating to him a place of culture in the heart of the city centre. – declares the mayor Pierluigi Peracchini – Giancarlo Marmori was an authoritative journalist after the Second World War, a refined writer, art critic and translator who enriched the Italian cultural heritage with works of great depth and we are proud that from now on the The Art and Archeology Library will bear his name. We believe that dedicating a civic library to him, as a place with significant value for the growth of knowledge but also for sociality and meeting for the whole community, is a sign of profound respect for his figure and as an example for the new generations. The naming ceremony will also be an opportunity to delve deeper into his work and his works, from fiction to non-fiction, with a day of studies in which all citizens are invited to participate”.
