“In today’s meeting held at Mimit with the participation of Minister Urso, unfortunately all the concerns that we as Fiom-Cgil continue to denounce regarding the situation of the Stellantis factories in Italy are confirmed.
No elements of guarantee have emerged regarding the future of the historic production site in via Ciro Menotti in Modena where Maserati models were produced until a few months ago. We also consider what is happening at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena to be serious, where, with the motivation of rationalizing the spaces, an important research and development site, fundamental for the relaunch of a prestigious Italian brand that is already experiencing a very serious crisis which for workers translates into a massive use of social safety nets.
Social safety nets that do not even spare the workers of the VM of Cento given a five-year plan that we do not know and whose existence we only learn today. The future of the Cento plant is still unclear, although Stellantis has reconfirmed its willingness to evaluate any interests or partnerships which, however, are not taking place to date.
The lack of a far-reaching industrial plan, of the necessary investments, together with a now clear to all Stellantis corporate strategy aimed at maximum profit, are increasingly leading to the dismantling of an entire strategic sector for our country.
Also for these reasons we renew the request to the Prime Minister to summon the CEO Carlos Tavares to get certain answers on production, research and development and employment”.
Maurizio Oreggia, automotive coordinator for the national Fiom-Cgil, declared this in a note
