Galeotto was a sign, probably the result of an error by the Municipality, which reported the felling of a tree in Via Scoglio. And, this morning at 7 o’clock, two Sanremo associations very attentive to greenery and its conservation, showed up in the upper area of the ‘Borea’ hospital, in front of the mortuary, to contest the felling of an old eucalyptus tens of years.
But, once the technicians and workers assigned to felling the tree arrived, two reports from as many agronomists were produced, which attested that the tree was now dead and, among other things, at risk of collapse. At that point the two associations remained to witness the demolition of the plant, leaving their protest banners but, obviously, without being able to contest the work as they would have liked, even ready to chain themselves together to block it.
Some agents from the Matuzian police station were also on site, although no particular intervention was necessary given that, once the reports were shown, the demonstrators desisted from their protest. This morning’s case keeps alive the attention on the situation of the trees in the city of flowers, as happens with those of the Regina Elena gardens, under the attention of the Pat Committee and beyond.
