The municipal administration of Marsala deleted in the morning the shameful neo-fascist writing against the partisans (accompanied by a Celtic cross), which appeared after the celebrations of April 25th. The episode was reported on social media at the beginning of today, arousing the indignant reaction of several citizens (as well as our newspaper) who had in turn requested a prompt removal of the offensive writing.

“It is with profound indignation that I condemn the act of vandalism perpetrated against the memory of the partisans of our city in the square dedicated to them – states the mayor Massimo Grillo -. We have already taken steps to have the offending writing removed and the color will be restored on Monday.

I have already informed the commander of the Municipal Police so that the incident can be shed light on and those responsible can be identified. We will not allow gestures of intolerance to obscure the memory of those who fought for freedom and democracy.
