HHLA receives 51% of Roland, an intermodal operator also in Trieste and Koper

TRIESTE – Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has acquired a majority stake in Roland Spedition, one of the largest operators for inland container transport in Austria.
HHLA will acquire the 51% of the shares, while the remaining 49% will remain in the hands of the two co-shareholders Christian Gutjahr and Nikolaus Hirnschallwho will continue to manage the business.
Founded in 1982, Roland now manages an annual volume of approx 130 thousand TEUs and is one of the major operators for intermodal transport in continental traffic in Austria. Its network extends throughout central and southern Europe and connects the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam and Antwerp, as well as Koper and Trieste. The company employs around 50 people at two locations in Austria.

HHLA will integrate Roland services into its extensive European network of port terminals in Hamburg, Tallinn, Trieste and Odessa, as well as intermodal connections to the hinterland and inland terminals. THE
