She thought she was her husband’s lover and attacked her

CREMONA – Seven months of imprisonment. This is the sentence imposed by the judge on a woman accused of attacking and threatening the cashier of a supermarket, convinced that she was the lover of her husband, who also worked in the market. The accused was also sentenced to pay damages of 800 euros – to the victim, civil party with the lawyer Monica Nichetti.

The facts date back to 2018. The husband developed an unreciprocated crush on his colleague. «My son – the wife explained – discovered a rather particular message between his father and the lady, but I have never had relations with the lady. I went to the supermarket to do the shopping. I never threatened her.” The defendant had denied assaulting the cashier in the parking lot. And of having published on Facebook a message directed to the victim’s sister, which read more or less like this: “Your sister is with other women’s men.”

«I don’t remember this message also because my husband is good at making fake accounts. I have a profile on Facebook, but I’m not social, I use it very little”. At the trial, the cashier’s sister explained that she had seen that message on Facebook. «I asked my sister for explanations. She told me that this lady thought she was having an affair with her husband. She asked me to accompany her to her work: she was afraid of finding this lady waiting for her outside. My sister occasionally received anonymous phone calls or calls with a number that she blocked. She told me that the lady had gone to the register, telling her to quit. One evening my sister arrived home in tears from the emergency room. She had some marks, her face was red, her glasses were destroyed.”

The accused had admitted a “simple phone call” with the cashier: «I told her that I wasn’t interested in anything about the relationship with my husband: they could have had it openly. We lived together only for our children. My husband has always been unfaithful.”
