Piedmont weather, week of sun and even strong storms: where and when

“It will be a decidedly dynamic week in Piedmont due to the humid and unstable Atlantic currents which day after day will erode the Afro-Mediterranean anticyclone – warns 3bmeteo meteorologist Edoardo Ferrara -. After the first passage of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, Tuesday will be the best day with a mostly sunny interim break; in this phase temperatures are increasing with peaks of 27-28°C in the plains, a few degrees less on the VCO”.

Precipitation between Wednesday and Friday then something changes

“However, between Wednesday and Thursday, new scattered rainfall is expected, including thunderstorms, in particular in the Piedmont foothills and in general between Torinese, Novarese and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. On Friday, the passage of a more intense disturbance is expected, this time with widespread showers and thunderstorms in Verbano-Cusio-Ossola where peaks of over 80-100mm may be recorded. Rain, albeit more intermittent, is also possible between Vercellese, Novarese and Torinese, more sporadic towards the South”, explains the expert.

Piedmont, forecast for Wednesday 20 September: a depression circulation deepens over the Region, resulting in many clouds from the morning, with a tendency to worsen from the afternoon with scattered light rains. Specifically, in the northern Alps, very cloudy or overcast skies with light rain for the entire day; progressively increasing clouds on the foothills with light rain from the afternoon; in the Western Alps very cloudy or overcast skies with light rain, intensifying in the afternoon with showers, even thunderstorms; in the southern Alps very cloudy or overcast skies throughout the day, with rain from the afternoon intensifying in the evening, even thunderstorms; on the western plains very cloudy or overcast throughout the day with rain and showers from the afternoon, even with thunderstorms; on the eastern plains scattered clouds alternating with clear spells with a tendency towards a gradual increase in cloud cover leading to overcast skies with light rain in the evening. Weak winds from the north-eastern quadrants rotating to the north-western quadrants; Thermal zero around 3600 meters.

Weekend trend

“Next weekend should see an improvement, except for some residual unstable notes on Saturday, with generally cooler weather. However, this is a trend that requires further analysis and confirmation, given the still long time gap”, concludes Edoardo Ferrara.
