The memorandum of understanding between the Province of Cosenza and the Guardia di Finanza was signed this morning at the presidential office of the Province of Cosenza, with the aim of strengthening the protection ensured by the Corps, committed to protecting the correct implementation of the PNRR, and improve the overall effectiveness of measures aimed at preventing, investigating and combating violations to the detriment of the economic-financial interests of the Union
European, State, Regions and local authorities, connected to the support and financing measures of the PNRR.
The signing of the document by the President, Dr. Rosaria Succurro, and the Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Cosenza, Colonel Giuseppe Dell’Anna, highlights, in its structure, an information link providing, specifically, that the Province of Cosenza communicates to the Guardia di Finanza detailed information and news, deemed relevant for the repression of irregularities, frauds and abuses of an economic-financial nature, of which it has become aware, taking care to also report elements on interventions, implementers or executors who present particular risk indicators.
It is, therefore, a collaborative activity between the Province and the Provincial Command with the aim of strengthening actions to protect the legality of administrative activities aimed at the destination and use of the aforementioned resources.
“The agreement with the Guardia di Finanza represents a precious contribution to the fight against all forms of corruption and embezzlement of public money, at a time when the Province of Cosenza is called upon to manage huge financing obtained thanks to projects qualified for the transformation of the territory. With the PNRR, Local Authorities are going through a delicate phase, in which it is important to guarantee the correct use of public resources – which could be attractive to criminal individuals and associations – by strengthening the control system. The signed protocol is therefore part of a concrete and effective safeguard of legality that we have always promoted”.
“I thank Colonel Dell’Anna – concluded the President of the Province – for the availability demonstrated and for being available to share with us the commitment to preventing corruption phenomena, in a delicate and extremely relevant context for the development of the territory which is the one offered by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan”.
Colonel Dell’Anna, in thanking the President of the Province of Cosenza, reiterated how the agreement, the result of an “idem felt de re publica”, will facilitate the ordinary activity of the Guardia di Finanza on the control of the management of public resources and will make it possible to enhance institutional coordination with a view to preventing and combating conduct detrimental to public financial interests.
Finally, he illustrated how the correct implementation of the PNRR guarantees that the huge resources make it possible to achieve the objectives of relaunching and structurally strengthening the local and national economy.
The memorandum of understanding will remain in force until the completion of the PNRR and, in any case, no later than 31 December 2026.
