What should you do after receiving the it-alert message

The It-alert test began on 28 June in the various Italian regions, starting with Tuscany. Tuesday 19 September is Lombardy’s turn: at midday all cell phones will receive the first message from the new national alarm system. In concrete terms, all telephones connected to mobile telephone cells within Lombardy will emit a sound (different from the set ringtones). A notification which, once the test is completed, will be useful for communicating emergencies, alerts and, in general, urgent news. This experimental phase should conclude at the end of the year.

Once you have received the alarm for the first time, the next step is to go to the it-alert.it website to answer the specific questionnaire which will allow you to improve the tool. Those who have not received any notification by 12pm are also invited to fill out the form. The message will contain the text: “Emergency alerts. It-Alert. This is a test message from the Italian alarm system. Once operational it will alert you in the event of a serious emergency. For information go to the website www.It-Alert.IT and fill out the questionnaire”.

But what is the goal? The It-alert will be triggered in the event of a weather warning, tsunamis generated by an earthquake (because they are predictable), a collapsing dam or volcanic activity. And again, nuclear accidents, radiological emergencies and major accidents in industrial plants which can have repercussions on neighboring areas. “The ability to receive messages will also depend on the device and the version of the operating system installed on the mobile phone. The tests will serve to verify all possible critical issues to optimize the system”, highlights the region.

It-alert is a free nationwide service that requires no registration or application.
