PESCARA – “Abruzzo is a trailblazer region? If Marsilio is referring to the runways of Pescara airport, he should know that they are becoming less and less frequented by planes. I would like to remind the president who is due to expire that we have already lost flights to Milan Linate and Turin, and that at the end of October we will suffer another drastic reduction in connections due to the stoppage of ten flights. Not only that: it was the council I presided over that allocated 29.4 million for airport infrastructure. And what did he do besides create a Saga board of directors divided on everything? If, however, he alludes to the ‘leads’ made by certain managers of the Municipality of Pescara, then we agree with him. In that sense, several openings have been made.”
Thus begins the note signed by the PD deputy Luciano D’Alfonso which addresses the President of the Region, Marco Marsilio, of FdI, re-nominated in the next regional elections scheduled for March, which replies point by point to what the governor said during a Fratelli d’Italia event on the hottest topics.
Below is D’Alfonso’s full note.
“Little Caivano. Comparing the Pescara neighborhood of Rancitelli to a town of 35 thousand inhabitants is already in itself a sign of poor knowledge of the area, but it is downright indecent to spread propaganda with the cry of “let’s use bulldozers against crime”. The problem is not the buildings, but those who use them to commit crimes. Who – remember the president who is about to expire – live near calm people who would never commit a crime. Therefore, it is not by making a clean sweep of a block of flats that delinquency is eradicated, because the experience of recent days is teaching us that crime does not cease: it simply moves further.
The Pescara-Rome railway. It is surreal that Marsilio talks about it as a victory, or perhaps it is the sign of a clear mental confusion. This connection, which the centre-right government removed from the PNRR, should be supported with cohesion and development funds. We would like to know where the resources will come from, because projects and construction sites only arise if there is financial coverage. We need 6 billion 305 million euros, and in the meantime we have lost 1 billion 465 million of the PNRR: we need typical acts from the competent ministries, and not chatter between party friends.
Healthcare restored. Short memory doesn’t help: exactly seven years ago, on 15 September 2016, the Council of Ministers approved Abruzzo’s exit from the health commissioner, thanks to the day-long work carried out by me and councilor Silvio Paolucci. Rather, Marsilio tell us how he intends to solve the problem of waiting lists, which have grown enormously since he has been at Palazzo Silone.
The Zes. Here too, the expiring president found the work already done: the Abruzzo SEZ was born with Prime Ministerial Decree no. 12 of 25 January 2018. It was the regional council that I presided over that saw 1702 hectares recognized compared to the 986 initially foreseen, thanks to the synergistic work within the Unified Conference.
The Film commission. Another case in which Marsilio takes credit that does not belong to him: the structure was created with regional law n. 53 of 20 November 2017, during the last council session. Six long years have passed since that day and nothing concrete has yet been seen.
Resources. It should be remembered to the forgetful people of Rome Capital that the regional council that I chaired distributed funds for a total of 2,830,376,379.01 euros. And speaking of the 2016 Masterplan (77 interventions planned thanks to 1.5 billion euros) tell us what happened to the resources planned for the former Teramo mental hospital, for Passolanciano or for Mare-monti, and above all we say if you intend to restore them.
In summary, the Roman president’s speech is full only of fantasy and amnesia. Find out better next time, maybe you’ll be able to say the right thing about a region that (the conditional is a must) you should know. As for Mirus’s certainly very expensive suggestion on the Abruzzo expression “frechet”, we must avoid at all costs that it transforms into “frechetev”.
We will also monitor this as well as the costs of the aforementioned suggestions and prompters!”.
