Over the course of last weekend (16 and 17 September) the technicians of the Piedmont Alpine and Speleological Rescue carried out 10 rescue operations aimed at mushroom hunters who were injured or missing in the woods of the entire region. Two in the province of Cuneo, two in the province of Turin, one in the province of Alessandria, two in the province of Verbania and three in the province of Vercelli, where a fatal accident occurred.
Evidently, a significant “mushroom spree” is underway which attracts many people into research and which statistically also increases the number of operations aimed at this category of mountain goers.
For this reason, we highlight above all the importance of carefully checking the weather forecast before leaving, wearing suitable footwear, i.e. hiking boots instead of rubber boots, and always informing someone at home about the area where you intend to go and the opening times. maximum, to allow timely alerting of the emergency services because in the inaccessible areas of the region there are still large areas not covered by a telephone signal to launch a possible alarm.
