Maria Chindamo was kidnapped and killed on 6 May 2016 in Limbati in the province of Vibo Valentia. After seven years it was possible to shed light on this crime thanks to the violent crimes department of the ROS and the statements of some justice collaborators. The murder of the 42-year-old occurred almost a year after the suicide of her husband Vincenzo Puntoriero on 8 May 2015. According to investigators, the crime occurred to punish the woman for a romantic relationship, which came to light two days before her murder for a public outing of the couple, and for the ownership of the land which, with the death of the husband, had passed to Chindamo and her children.

The suspect, already arrested last May for mafia-type association, was granted another order carried out today for the tampering with the video surveillance system of his country home near the crime scene, effectively facilitating the perpetrators materials of the kidnapping and murder of the woman, and for having destroyed the body of the woman, whose body, on the basis of the reconstruction provided by collaborators of justice, he was fed to pigs and whose bone remains were shredded with a tractor cutter.
