The qualifying “stage” for the final of the Regions Trophy on track (Area Centro) held on the track of the Enzo Sacchi Velodrome in the Parco delle Cascine in Florence, was very successful with the presence of four regional representatives, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, the Marches and Umbria, while Abruzzo and Liguria did not take part. Just under 80 males and females took part in 5 hours of racing (there was also a brief suspension due to a light rain) with the beginners who competed in three trials for the Omnium while for the other categories, students and juniors, tests of team pursuit, team speed, elimination, 500 meters and km were held. Interesting, hard-fought and beautiful some of the races of the Florentine program organized from an organizational point of view by the AICS Polisportiva of Florence with the president Gianni Cantini and the entire staff of the Track Structure of the Tuscany Regional Committee, represented on the occasion by the vice president Mauro Renzoni. On the other hand, Giovanni Lorenzon, who is part of the secretariat of the same commission, was present for the National Track Commission. The representative of Emilia Romagna, took first place ahead of Tuscany and in the classification of the Trofeo delle Regioni (Central Area) before the next meeting scheduled at the Francone velodrome of San Francesco al Campo in Turin on May 31st, Emilia Romagna leads the standings with 198 points followed by Tuscany with 169. The first three representatives of the areas concerned will have access to the national final which will almost certainly take place in the first two weeks of September (day and location to be defined).
