26 MAY – “The European regions shared the concern that the Italian Government had already expressed regarding the cultivation of food in the laboratory, of synthetic food that replaces natural food”.
The president of the Abruzzo region said it yesterday, Marcus Marsiliuson the sidelines of the plenary of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, where European leaders voted on an opinion on sustainable food that includes an amendment precisely on synthetic food that expresses this concern.
“We defend tradition – he explained – and also work in the countryside, where there is a risk of exodus, effectively eliminating traditional farms to replace them with food for which there is currently no guarantee of wholesomeness and health”.
“And with respect to this it was an important vote that I hope the Commission will take into account”, concluded Marsilio.
