«The sociolinguistic scenario of Bosnia Herzegovina offers analogies and parallels with the Greek one of Calabria, such as to promise interesting research and reflection ideas for the revitalization of our linguistic minority. For this reason I will travel to the Balkans during the first half of July, to ascertain the effectiveness of the solutions adopted there and draw some good practices from them».
So declared in a press release the scholar Francesco Ventura, recently admitted among the members of the Deputation of Homeland History for Calabria, engaged since 2015 as an activist in favor of the Greek linguistic minority community of Calabria.
«Bosnia in relation to the Greek of Calabria has been at the center of my attention since 2019, when during the IV “Franco Mosino” Conference, held in Melito Porto Salvo, we began to approach the peculiarity of this multilingual and bialphabetic Balkan federal republic – continues Ventura – After a study of the scientific literature, which began during the constraints of the pandemic and continued constantly, I am convinced that an inspection is essential to collect impressions and data useful for a better understanding of the scenario in the field».
Francesco Ventura has already carried out research periods in Europe, he is engaged in perfecting a research project in linguistic policies to be proposed in the doctoral course, he has finally filed an appeal with the Metropolitan City, to obtain the adoption of some correctives with which to reformulate an exploratory public notice relating to the service of the so-called language desks.
«This expedition will have a cost, of which almost half has already been covered with a collection of friends, activists and sympathizers, whom I sincerely thank for the trust placed – concludes Ventura – This co-financing has a fundamental role, since it is helping to make sustainable an expense otherwise beyond my current capabilities and possibilities.
