Wander and Pick colors Tuscany: five gardens for picking tulips, from Scandicci to Piombino

This year Wander and Pick is done in five: the project dedicated to tulips and conceived by Alessandra Benati, of the Le Tribù della Terra association, lands in five different gardens of Tuscany, where it will be possible to admire the thousand colors of the blooming tulips and if you want to pick up some to take home, as a free offer. Stroll and collect is in fact the claim of this successful initiative, which returns to color our region.

An amphitheater with 150,000 tulips in Scandicci

In Scandicci today opens the Temporary Park in the park of the former Cnr: a large amphitheater of 2,000 square meters colored with tulips, 150,000 of 65 different varieties, planted last November based on the project by the architects Giulia Crocetti Corenich and Ilenia Maria Agresti of Dromhus studio.

“One hundred and fifty thousand bulbs in the ground for a flowering full of colors and different species of tulips – explains the project coordinator Alessandra Benatithis spring’s Wander and Pick floor plan resembles a large floral amphitheater. After planting the bulbs, we placed small poles to protect the area, beyond which visitors were able to admire the slow and continuous growth of the plants up to the moment of flowering”.

“We are at sixth edition Of Wander and Pick in the Temporary Park, in the center of Scandicci, an initiative increasingly part of the tradition of our city – underlines the councilor for the environment Barbara Lombardini – every year the flowering manages to renew itself with new colors and increasingly assorted species in compliance with the principles of biodiversity, thanks to the commitment, creativity and imagination of the promoters of this spectacular event.”

Wander and Pick for the first time in Piombino

For the first time this year, Wander and Pick blooms also reach the sea. Piombinoin the province of Livorno, hosts a stupendous tulip park which opened on 21 March, the first day of spring, and will remain open to visitors until Sunday 2 April, from 2.30pm to 7pm on working days and from 11am to 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays .

The Piombino location is truly unique: the walkways on Leonardo’s walls of the Rivellino tower have in fact become a garden that houses over 20,000 tulips.

Tulips to be collected also in Lastra a Signa, Poggio a Caiano and Sesto Fiorentino

Instead, the garden of will open on Saturday 1 April at 11 Wonder and Pick in Lastra a Signa: an expanse of 20,000 arranged tulips in the shape of a labyrinth, in homage to Brunelleschi’s walls of the city: a fascinating scenography, inspired by Collodi’s labyrinth in Pinocchio’s Park, designed by the famous architect Pietro Porcinai. The garden will be open every day from 10.30 to 19.

“For the second consecutive year we are promoting this project with the aim of enhancing our ancient walls and at the same time carrying out environmental knowledge projects – comments the mayor Angela Bagniwe are sure that this edition will be attended as last year and we invite all citizens and especially the younger ones to visit the garden”.

Also Saturday April 1st at Poggio a Caiano, in the province of Prato, the new Wander and Pick tulip park is inaugurated, where you can admire as many as 30,000 in bloom.

Same opening date (Saturday 1st April at 3.30pm) also for the expanse of tulips in Sixth Florentineor, in the Garden of the Bardo. Here 35,000 bulbs of 45 different flowering varieties draw the plant of a ancient etruscan vitruvian temple, connecting past and present and greeting the return of spring with an explosion of colours. The flower garden will remain open every day from 10.30 to 19 for about three weeks.

“We make an elegant and educational asset like the graceful and symbolic value of the flower accessible to all – adds Alessandra Benati – q.bhis year we have concentrated our interest on some ancient varieties such as i arrow-shaped tulipsan old variety from Persia: we noticed that visitors were more attracted by those unreleased non-classical varieties”.

During the weekend all the gardens will remain open from 10.30 to 19.
