A double life. One day on the set as an extra in Romanzo criminale, the other in the torture room set up inside a popular apartment in via Naide 116. Here’s who he is Daniele Carlomosti, 44, cinema extra turned ruthless Roman drug kingpin. “The Giant” now risks 20 years in prison and the investigative documents on his criminal association offer a handbook for the murders of the last few weeks in Rome. The man has appeared in successful films in his parallel life (“Romanzo criminale”, “A cat on the ring road”, “Gangs of New York” with attached selfies with Claudio Amendola, Christian De Sica, Alessandro Gassman, Tom Hanks), as told by the Corriere della Sera.
Rome, gang of narcos of Carlomosti. The prosecutor asks for 145 years: “Guns, drugs and torture of debtors”
Carlomosti tortured his debtors in an apartment set up with plastic sheeting on the floor in anticipation of gushing blood. For this and other episodes, the public prosecutor’s office asked yesterday in abbreviated form (therefore with sentences already reduced by a third) over 145 years in total prison for the 13 members of a criminal association which, by shooting, kidnapping, beating and making agreements aimed at imposing his hashish in the Capitoline drug dealing squares. As reconstructed by the investigations of the carabinieri of the investigative unit, merged into the arrest order of last May (31 suspects in total), the name of Carlomosti appears in various capacities in practically all the investigations into organized crime in the city.
Massimo Carminati refers to him in «Mondo di mezzo» when he weighs his ferocity: «These are ugly forts». But Carlomosti has relations with Fabrizio Piscitelli Diabolik, who offers himself as a torturer having a credit with the same victim.
You shoot his brother
The Giant himself does not hesitate to open fire on his brother Simone and set fire to his father’s car. The gang’s biggest deal, an attempt to import a ton of hashish via Spain, is instead thwarted by the Moroccan police.
For the gang of narcos led by Daniele Carlomosti, the Public Prosecutor’s Office asks for the bill, and it is heavy: the prosecutor Edoardo De Santis has requested sentences of 145 years in prison for 13 defendants. The magistrate asked for 20 years for the boss. Instead, his right arm, Armando De Propris, father of one of the killers of Luca Sacchi, the Roman personal trainer killed in 2019, risks 10 years and 8 months.
Even Fabrizio Piscitelli, alias Diabolik, one of the most powerful narcos in Rome, killed with a gunshot in the park of the Aqueducts, showed respect. From the arrest warrant against the gang, issued in May 2022, it emerges that the Diablo had asked Carlomosti for authorization to scare a debtor. The investigating judge Tamara De Amicis had listed legs, attempted murders, threats, extortion. But she had underlined that the new lords of the underworld, who wanted to conquer the drug dealing squares starting from the La Rustica district, were careful not to step on the wrong feet. One of Carlomosti’s most trusted collaborators, Fabio Pallagrosi – for him, assisted by the lawyer Alberto Fortino, the prosecutor asked for 16 years -, would have turned to Michele Senese’s family for authorization to remove a debtor who a time had been close to the family of the boss. He had told his parents that he had not only obtained the go-ahead – underlines the investigating judge – but also a piece of advice: kill him using a “stiletto”.
