(ANSA) – VENICE, MARCH 25 – Half an hour after the announced demonstration by anarchists in Campo Santa Margherita in Venice, the situation is under the control of the forces of order. There is currently no march in support of Alfredo Cospito and the Spaniard Juan Antonio Sorroche Fernandez, sentenced in the first instance to 28 years for the attack on the headquarters of the League of Villorba (Treviso).

About thirty demonstrators gathered several tens of meters away, in the nearby Campo dei Frari, displaying a banner with the inscription “Stragist is the State. Solidarity with Anna and Alfredo” and shouting slogans into a megaphone. The group was immediately surrounded by the police, who prevent journalists and tourists from approaching.

The city is manned by about 400 men in uniform, half of whom have been placed in Campo Santa Margherita. From 3 pm the city is flown over by a police helicopter which monitors the evolution of the situation from above. No incidents are currently reported. All access streets to the field are manned. In Campo Santa Margherita, according to what has been learned, about ten anarchists have been identified and are kept under strict control. (HANDLE).
