A family quarrel culminated in a murder in Pietraperzia, in the province of Enna. A 32 year old female he attacked his mother-in-law with a knife 62-year-old Margherita Margani on the morning of Saturday 4 February. The crime took place in the apartment of the victim and the 32-year-old she was stopped shortly after by the carabinieri who are conducting the investigation.
According to the first reconstructions, Laura Di Dio would have gone to the house of her mother-in-law with whom she often quarreled and, once she entered the apartment, attacked her in the kitchen with a cutting weapon, probably a knife or a pair of scissors . After her murder, Di Dio allegedly sat astride her mother-in-law’s corpse to smoke a cigarette.
The husband of the 32-year-old stopped, son of the victim, would have reported some partner’s depression problems. “She didn’t want to be treated, we had been living in hell for a year and a half. I did everything for her, even when she started to show depressive disorders. She got up at night and slept very little, ate when she felt like it. We consulted a doctor but she didn’t take medicine. For some time I hadn’t left her alone with our children because I was afraid she might hurt them. In recent days I had thought of going to a specialist. But I love my wife”.
Family history would tell a very different reality. Indeed, in 2018, the 32-year-old had been involved in a shooting born after an argument at home. Christian Arnone, brother of the woman’s partner, had in fact intervened during a discussion to defend her from a series of ill-treatments suffered while she was pregnant with her.
The Pietraperzia community is shaken by what happened to 62-year-old Margherita Margani. “I knew you personally, you were a quiet and sociable person” said the mayor of the town, Salvuccio Messina.
