“Science, technological progress and environmental sustainability in the maritime and port sector” is the title of the study conference that will be held on Wednesday 3 July, in Ravenna, starting at 4:30 pm, in the Conference Hall of the Central Northern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, in via Antico Squero.
Organized by “Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Illicit Activities Connected to the Waste Cycle and Other Environmental and Agri-food Crimes”chaired by the deputy Jacopo Morrone, the conference is divided into two parts. The first provides an overview of the state of pollution of the Mediterranean Sea and the regeneration of Italian ports in the context of the ecological transition, while the second concerns specific areas in the field of environmental protection relating to institutional monitoring systems of merchant ships and related operational activities in ports, outlining the management peculiarities of maritime and port companies, connected to the ecological transition and environmental sustainability.

“This event – explains President Morrone – precedes the ‘G7 Science and Technology’ meeting scheduled for 9, 10 and 11 July in Bologna and Forlì, organised by the Ministry of University and Research. The topics discussed are highly topical: science, technological progress and modern business organisation represent, in synergy, an indispensable opportunity for marine environmental protection and related sustainability”.

I speakers will be, in the first part, Admiral Inspector Nicola Carlone, general commander of the Port Authority Corps-Coast Guard; Greta Tellarini, full professor of Navigation Law and director of the Master in Maritime, Port and Logistics Law-University of Bologna; Desiree Fondaroli, full professor of Criminal Law and director of the Master in Criminal Law of Business and Economy. In the second part: Roberto Cimino, Eni SpA – vice president of the National Technology Cluster Blue Growth (Blue Italian Growth-BIG); Barbara Zanuttigh, professor – University of Bologna, Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering.
