New controversies on the post-earthquake, that earthquake that in March of last year brought Pierantonio and Sant’Orfeto in the Perugia area to their knees. It is the Democratic Party that reopens the issue by attacking the Region and the Government with Michele Bettarelli, vice president of the Legislative Assembly of Umbria. In the background the Campi Flegrei Decree and the related allocations. “After more than a year of chatter and promises from the right that have not been followed by any action, the populations of Pierantonio and Sant’Orfeto are even seeing the Autonomous Accommodation Contribution (Cas) reduced or cancelled. Adding insult to injury for the citizens of Umbria, after the Government’s announcement of the ‘Campi Flegrei Decree’, which would allocate 400 million euros for private reconstruction and for the infrastructure of the Campania area hit by the earthquake”.

In short, for the Dem Michele Bettarelli, children (in Campania) and stepchildren (in Umbria). Hence the attack of the Democratic Party: “These measures cannot have a geographical connotation, if they are planned for the inhabitants of the metropolitan area of Naples and if the Campania Region plans to allocate a share of the community development and cohesion funds to these interventions, it is not clear why after the catwalks of the right in recent months, it is not clear why the same line of action cannot be adopted also in Umbria, in Umbertide and Sant’Orfeto. It would be peaceful to foresee today – the PD underlines again – that also for the earthquake victims in Umbria a contribution of variable amount can finally be foreseen for the repair of the damage suffered by private buildings”.

For this reason and to know the reasons why the CAS would have been reduced or not allocated, Bettarelli presented a question. The Democrats had also argued about the “controls never started, non-existent measures and abandoned populations” in the earthquake-stricken areas, recalling how, despite a motion approved on March 5, no damage assessments had been started or to allocate specific funds. The Democratic Party had asked for the opening of a discussion table with the Government and local banks to find agreements for obtaining loans for reconstruction, with subsequent state reimbursement through tax credit.
