The Imola Summer Music Academy and Festival is now in full swing, after the opening night entrusted to the notes of the Imola Piano e Forte project. The first part of the rich program, which will continue until July 29, dedicates a special attention to chamber ensembles, protagonists of four events in the Sala Cefla of Palazzo Monsignani. Chamber projects play a central role in the Academy’s activity, due to the intense formative and didactic role that ensemble music plays in the preparation of young musicians: on the one hand, the new structure of the Foundation’s course program allows for a wider possibility of collaboration and comparison between students, on the other, making music together promotes the artistic growth of students. Last but not least, chamber groups allow for a significant expansion of the repertoire, which allows us to offer the public concerts not only of the highest artistic and interpretative quality, but also of great stylistic richness and variety.

Tomorrow, at 6:00 p.m., Martina Veneri on the flute and Alessia Guaragna on the piano will perform the Sonata for flute and piano FP164 by Francis Poulenc and the Fantasia for flute and piano by Georges Hüe; following this, Jennifer Piazza on the clarinet and Giulia Marras on the piano will perform the Sonata in D for clarinet and piano by Nino Rota and the Première Rhapsodie L124 by Claude Debussy; the concert will end with Michele Fontana on the clarinet and Ludovico Falqui Massidda on the piano with the Sonata no. 2 in E flat major op. 120 by Johannes Brahms. On Monday, again at 6:00 p.m., Marta Andreoli on the flute, Maria Mafalda Mazzon on the cello and Anna Massi on the piano will perform the Trio in G minor op. 63 J 259 by Carl Maria von Weber, while Erika Ngarmcroh on the violin, Enrico Zambon on the cello and Giulia Iijima on the piano will perform the Trio No. 4 “Dumky” in E minor op. 90 (B166) by Antonin Dvorak; in the second part, Beatrice Ferrari on the violin and Michele Chinellato on the piano will perform two movements from Brahms’ Sonata No. 1 op. 78 in G major, while Sayako Obori on the violin and Maria Ponomaryova on the piano will perform Brahms’ Sonata No. 3 in D minor op. 108.

The appointment on Friday 12th at 6pm will be dedicated to the students of the masterclass with Dirk Mommertz, the German pianist, co-founder in 1995 of the famous Fauré Quartet, acclaimed concert performer and esteemed teacher who will hold three days of training dedicated to chamber music.

On Monday 15th the chamber ensembles will once again be the protagonists, with Ludwig van Beethoven.
