The ArenaMeis is back, the open-air cinema in the garden of the National Museum of Italian Judaism and the Shoah in Ferrara, in via Piangipane, 81 and dedicated to films that explore the themes of Judaism, identity and the value of diversity. It starts today, at 9 pm, with ‘L’ultima volta che siamo stati bambini’, the directorial debut of Claudio Bisio. It is the summer of 1943 and four children play together, united by a friendship that seems eternal. This is the story of Italo, Cosimo, Vanda and Riccardo, from a Jewish family. Everything changes when Riccardo is taken away by the Nazis. The other three embark on a journey in search of their missing friend. The screening will be introduced by the film’s set designer Paola Comencini, who will tell how 20th century Italy is recreated in cinema. Director Claudio Bisio will connect to say hello. The theme of ArenaMeis 2024 is ‘fears and other troubles’: films of all genres will allow us to question the fears and phobias in our society. The entrance ticket costs 4 euros, there is a reduction for Arci members, Avis members, Coop members, CartaEffe holders, Artsupp members and Jazz Club Ferrara members. The films start at 9:30 pm. For reservations, the number is 342 5476621 (active from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm) or by writing to [email protected]. The next appointment is for Wednesday 10 July with the film ‘Libere, disobbedienti, innamorate’.
