Ferrara Moments of tension this afternoon, July 2, at Pareschi Park of Ferrara in Corso Giovecca. An agent of the local police was taken to the Sant’Anna hospital in Cona after being attacked by a man who was probably caught in possession of narcotics. The officer was carrying out a routine check-up at the park with a dog from the canine unit. There was a man sitting on a bench, when the dog came near him he started barking. The man became agitated and first hit the officer with a kick then, when she reacted using the stinging spray to defend himself, he threw her to the ground and started hitting her. Seeing the scene, two boys jumped on the man and blocked him until the arrival of the police who arrived on site within a few minutes.

“When the dog started barking – says a girl who was at the park and saw the scene – the officer approached the man for a check but he he immediately got nervous and then he kicked her.” He continued: “When the policewoman used the pepper spray he threw her to the ground, sat on her, and he started hitting her”. Fortunately, two people intervened to free the officer from the man who was now out of control. When the other officers arrived, the citizen continued to give in outbursts struggling and kicking but was eventually restrained and arrested.
