Nuoto Sub Faenza wins nine medals with the Masters at the Italian Swimming Championships

One gold medal, two silver medals and six bronze medals is the rich haul of the Master swimmers of Nuoto Sub Faenza at the Italian FIN Championships held in the two 50-meter pools of the Riccione Swimming Stadium from 25 to 30 June with almost 4,000 registered participants.

Among the nineteen standard-bearers of the Faenza club, the following stood out: Laura Rava (category M80, born in 1942), Italian champion in the 100 freestyle, second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 50 backstroke; Alessandro Amadei (M40, 1983), national vice-champion in the 200 backstroke and third in the 100 and 50 backstroke; Annamaria Chillemi (M45, 1978), bronze in the 400 medley and 100 butterfly; Stefano Schiumarini (M60, 1960), bronze in the 400 medley.

The 100-meter freestyle of the M20s was exciting, a category introduced by the Fin for the first time in this competitive year, where Davide Ranieri (2004) missed the podium by 3 tenths of a second and the victory by 6. The best result in the relay of the Faenza team was obtained by the M120 category, in the 4 x 50 medley men and women, with 19th place out of 67, with Dalia Rinaldi, Emanuele Galafroni, Annamaria Chillemi and Dylan Tozzi.

“The competitive season for the Masters has ended – comments Stefano Schiumarini, head of the Faenza Underwater Swimming Sector -, but rest assured that after the summer we will return charged and ready to face the challenges of the Super Master Circuit with the usual exuberance. For the preparation for the Italian Championships, credit must be given not only to the athletes, but also to the trainer and supervisor Yuri Bruschi, capable of overcoming the difficulties that can be encountered in training a group of athletes ranging from 20 to 80 years old”.

In the youth water polo sector, for the third consecutive year with about fifteen boys aged 15 and over, Nuoto Sub Faenza together with Ravenna Pallanuoto played a series of friendly matches with local teams in Croatia, in particular in Rijeka and its surroundings, including Primorje and Rovigno.
Together with their peers from Ravenna Pallanuoto, an Under 14 and Under 12 team were also set up and from 28 to 30 June they took part in the “Waterpolo World Festival” in Casal Borsetti (Italy), in which important clubs from all over Italy were registered. The Under 12s started off a bit slowly, finding themselves facing strong teams from clubs with great tradition, but as the tournament continued they placed second in their group. It was a tough start for the Under 14s too, who found the best teams in the first matches but ended the event by winning four out of seven matches.
Furthermore, before the holidays, the Under 12s together with their friends from Ravenna Pallanuoto will carry out two days of training in the renovated Solarolo swimming pool.
