The Italian Regions have started the mobilization to commit the Regional Councils to ask for the repeal of the law that established differentiated autonomythrough the referendum institute governed by art. 75 of the Constitution. Emilia Romagna, Campania and Tuscany have already undertaken this path and have begun discussions with their respective regional assemblies to succeed in blocking a reform that risks dividing Italy, as can be easily understood also from the requests that are starting to arrive from the Northern Regions, in order to have greater autonomy with respect to matters in which the Lep do not apply.
The group of the Pd in Regional Councilchaired by Mimmo Bevacquais working together with the regional party and the opposition group leaders at Palazzo Campanella Davide Tavernise (M5s) and Domenico Lo Schiavo (Misto) to organize a public initiative, also open to social forces, to ensure that the Regional Council of Calabria also joins the battle and calls for the abrogative referendum on differentiated autonomy.
The public initiative is scheduled for next July 11th and will see the participation of the regional secretary Nicholas Irto and of the senator Alexander Alfieriresponsible for Reforms within the national secretariat of the Democratic Party. “The time has come to move from words to deeds – explains the leader of the Democratic Party Mimmo Bevacqua – and in line with the position supported since the beginning of the discussion on differentiated autonomy, we will now activate every useful tool to block it, with the hope that this battle for equality and solidarity will be shared unanimously by society and in the Regional Council”.
