From today, July 2, 2024, also Trani is among the common friends of sea turtles, thanks to its participation in the project LIFE Turtlenest, co-financed by the European Union and coordinated by Legambiente.

The project aims to conserve and protect the Caretta Caretta sea turtle from threats related to human disturbance in the nesting sites of the basin Western Mediterranean (on the French, Spanish and Italian coasts).
The path also aims to evaluate the impact of climate change on the nesting of the species which, due to rising temperatures, is becoming increasingly frequent on our beaches.

Numerous activities are planned, until 2028including the creation of an international network, and, also in Tranithe adoption of shared procedures and the adoption of best practices to mitigate threats to emerging nesting sites, coastal monitoring, training of beach resort managers and awareness campaigns for citizens.
