PADUA: 2 YOUNG PEOPLE ACCUSED OF THREATS AND ROBBERY

PADOVA – The Flying Squad of Padua has reported an 18-year-old from Masera’ in the Padua area and a 15-year-old unaccompanied foreigner for a robbery of two very young people, which took place last April 27 in the central Piazza Duomo. The news was only made public today.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office served notice of conclusion of preliminary investigations on the first one in recent days. The Venice Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office is proceeding with proceedings against the minor.
The two, according to the investigators’ reconstruction, approached two young men from Padua, aged 17 and 18, and threatened them, forcing them to hand over their wallets and money, putting their hands in their pockets, making the two victims believe they had knives. Furthermore, the two had snatched the helmet from one of their victims and hit the other on the visor, all for a loot of 50 euros.
Once the complaint was received, the police officers cross-referenced the images from the video surveillance of the Municipality of Padua with the Instagram profiles of some very young people already involved in other episodes of youth violence. The photos were shown to the two victims, resulting in the identification of their attackers.
The 18-year-old was already known to the Police because he had been tried by the Juvenile Court of Venice for having attacked and threatened another young person together with a peer; in February he had been caught in possession of a switchblade, and for this reason the Police Chief of Padua, Marco Odorisio, had considered him a socially dangerous person, issuing an Oral Warning against him. For the April episode he finally ordered a Ban on his return to the municipality of Padua for four years.
