Dominic Fracchiollathe new sporting director of Giugliano, spoke to the microphones of TMW Radio during the broadcast All C:

It starts again from Giugliano, how did this choice come about?
“It’s a fascinating adventure, I’m returning to the south after the years at Lecco. I was immediately convinced by the enthusiasm of the owners, there’s a desire to do and what pushed me is the enthusiasm that I felt right away. It’s not just a question of economics, there’s economic stability, but ideas are also needed and here they are”.

What should you focus on in the market? Do you need any particular moves?
“We have 24 contracts and only two under-21s, one of whom will leave. The first objective is to sell some players and then invest in the under-21s. We took Scaravalli from Genoa and Masala from Pescara on a permanent basis, we will continue to take under-21s because we will get minutes and because at least three of them must play, we will look for seven or eight strong players to shore up the squad”.

What does Juventus’ presence in Group C entail from an economic, managerial and technical point of view?
“I’ll start by saying that I’m in favor of second teams for a number of reasons. Second teams are important because first of all they are sustainable entities, you can’t see teams that halfway through the year don’t have the economic strength to move forward. The second reason is linked to the push that these teams bring to the others. The big teams take away players who can be loaned out and this forces other clubs to scout and capitalize on their young players. Juventus will then have an important effect from an environmental point of view and playing in the north will also benefit us a lot because many scouts work in the north”.

Do you think three second teams are a fair number?
“I think the system has shown that there are difficulties, not just one team has signed up but there are many difficulties and the blocked market of these days shows it. The current 60 teams are difficult to support, I think a wider opening to the second teams is necessary, in fact for me a total opening would be necessary. This would push the clubs to capitalize because borrowing players in the long run will lead to nothing. There is no point in hiding, the young players in C only play for the minutes, otherwise they would not play. The young players should be taken regardless, it is normal that if there were more second teams there would be fewer good young players available and there you should work on the young players in the lower leagues and on your youth sector”.
