In the last ten years in the Salerno area there has been an increase in the presence of foreigners of 22%, both EU and non-EU citizens, above the national average in terms of growth, but below the regional average. The province of Salerno is characterized by a consolidated and long-term foreign presence, composed of regularly resident foreigners, mainly Moroccans and Romanians, who arrived with unplanned flows, irregular migrants.
These are some of the data illustrated this morning at the Prefecture during the meeting of the Territorial Council for Immigration, a useful meeting to present the “Territorial plan of interventions for the management of the migratory phenomenon in the province of Salerno”, a strategic analysis and planning tool to support the work of the Prefecture and all interested public and private entities to plan the projects and actions of the new programming season of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027.
The plan, presented and shared with other institutions and associations of the third sector, approved by the Prefect of Salerno, Francesco Esposito aims to govern a series of actions for the Integration and inclusion in work, housing and school, prevention and fight against undeclared work and exploitation of irregular work.
