REGGIO EMILIA – Next Sunday – July 7th – Reggio Emilia remembers “his” martyrs of 1960 (Lauro Farioli, Ovidio Franchi, Emilio Reverberi, Marino Serri and Afro Tondelli), the boys “with striped shirts” killed by the police during a union demonstration.

The program of celebrations – promoted by the Municipality, Province, Cgil, Cisl and Uil, Anpi, Alpi-Apc, Anppia, Istoreco and the Democratic and Constitutional Committee – includes on Sunday at 10 a.m. a tribute to the graves of the fallen in the monumental cemetery and at 10:45 a.m., in the square named after them, the laying of a wreath on the martyrs’ monument and a walk on the stumbling stones that mark the exact points where they fell.

Finally, at 11 am, speeches will be given by the mayor Marco Massari, the vice president of the Province Elena Carletti, some relatives of the victims of the massacre and the deputy of the Democratic Party Gianni Cuperlo. In the evening, starting at 8 pm, there will be collateral events at the “Casa Cervi” museum in Gattatico, which is dedicating an exhibition and a concert to the martyrs. On Monday 8 July at 6:30 pm, in the internal courtyard of the CGIL headquarters, the presentation of the book Arturo Bertoldi and Max Collini “Storie di antifascismo senza retorica” will be held.

Finally, this Thursday, at 9pm, a film on the martyrs of July 7th will be shown at the headquarters of the ANPI of Reggio Emilia, followed by a debate with the mayor Massari and the provincial secretary of the CGIL Cristian Sesena.
