ANCI and GBC Italia, Decaro: together for sustainable construction

Rome, 2 July (askanews) – The collaboration agreement has been signed between ANCI, the National Association of Italian Municipalities, and Green Building Council Italia, an Association that is part of the World GBC, the international network of GBCs present in eighty countries, and a partner of USGBC. Never before has the topic of energy transition, also through PNRR funding, had such a strong impact on the territories, requiring skills and strategies that local administrations must consolidate and implement to support the growth of local entities. In this context, the collaboration between ANCI and GBC Italia will allow Italian Municipalities to benefit from the support of the “Green Building” Association that promotes, in the Italian context, the monitoring of the impact of the built environment, national and international energy-environmental protocols (rating systems), with particular reference to the Italian GBC certification system, which support the market evaluation for sustainable buildings, stimulating competition between companies on the topic of environmental performance and encouraging conscious consumption behaviors also among end users.

“With the signing of this protocol – commented Antonio Decaro, President of Anci – we are contributing to creating a national community on sustainable construction that sees Italian municipalities among its protagonists as promoters of sustainable actions aimed at a more conscious use of the territory. Through the training activities and technical support of GBC Italia, we will be able to evaluate the impacts of the designs and the quality of the construction techniques on the new creations in the development of the habit and therefore on the daily life of citizens. One of the main activities will therefore be the sensitization not only of the institutions but also of the professionals, of the trade associations and of all the citizens on the theme of sustainable construction.”.
